Dr. Churchill-Smith is President and Chief Executive Officer of MMI. He is also a Senior Physician at the McGill University Health Centre, and Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University. Dr. Churchill-Smith served as the Medical Director of a private medical aviation service for over 25 years and continues to act as Medical Director of the Aviation Medicine Program at McGill University – one of Canada’s most successful air medical organizations – which has now completed more than 20,000 missions.

Dr. Maciej Baranowski

Vice President of International Affairs
Dr. Maciej Baranowski, M.D., PhD, Vice President of International Affairs, is a seasoned medical professional with extensive business experience. A true innovator in the field of personalized healthcare services, over the last twenty years he has developed a solid understanding of healthcare systems, services, medical equipment and day-to-day operations. He has been at the forefront of the development and successful management of private healthcare businesses, including clinics and hospitals, as owner and CEO. Notably, he is a co-founder and a past President of Polska Grupa Medyczna (PGM) – the leading medical group in Poland in the field of intensive cardiology. Dr. Baranowski has a solid track record in identifying and implementing changes for improvement in healthcare businesses and related corporate governance.

Dr. Baranowski received his medical degree from Silesian Medical University and his PhD in medicine form Poznan University of Medical Sciences.

Bruce McNiven

Executive Vice President, Legal and Corporate Affairs
Bruce McNiven is Executive Vice President, Legal and Corporate Affairs of MMI, and prior to joining the management team in 2014, was the founding external legal counsel for MMI since its establishment in 2004. A lawyer called to the Bar of Quebec, Canada in 1981, he practised business and corporate law at a major Montreal-based Canadian law firm for over thirty years, principally in private equity, embracing a wide range of commercial agreements, mergers and acquisitions, technology transfer and licensing agreements, wealth advisory and business succession planning and not-for-profit and publically-regulated organizations focused on health care.

Beyond his legal career, Mr. McNiven has been deeply involved as a volunteer and as a board member of a number of community, cultural, educational and health and social service organizations. In 2014 he was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours, in recognition of his broad and sustained commitment to the preservation and flourishing of Montreal’s culture and heritage.

David Guénette

Chief Financial Officer
David Guénette is Chief Financial Officer of MMI. His main areas of expertise include Financial Modeling, Business Valuation, Transfer Pricing, Corporate Taxes, International Tax and Accounting. Prior to joining MMI, Mr. Guénette worked at Bank of Montreal, Deloitte, State Street and Caterpillar where he held various positions in the fields of Engineering, Finance and International Taxation.

Mr. Guénette has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, a Master of Laws in Taxation from HEC Montréal (École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal) and a Master of Business Administration in Investment Management from John Molson School of Business, Concordia University. Mr. Guénette is also a CFA charterholder.

Robert Babczak

Director of Business Operations and External Affairs
Robert Babczak is MMI’s Director of Business Operations and External Affairs ensuring the progress of MMI’s various international projects in Central Europe and the Middle East in the context of corporate governance, operations and interaction with external and internal stakeholders. He also is involved with day-to-day operations, corporate communications and MMI board relations.

Mr. Babczak has broad knowledge and experience with healthcare governance and its institutional structures with their various political, business and legislative applications. He obtained a Master’s degree in European Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations at the University of British Columbia (UBC) together with a marketing management diploma from British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) in Vancouver, British Columbia. His education combined with his managerial experience makes him a valuable member of the MMI team. Mr. Babczak recently held a liaison position managing MMI Kuwait administrative operations on site. Prior to joining MMI he coordinated and administered the operations of the Board of the McGill University Health Centre. During that time he was also in charge of that institution’s Executive Office Internship Programme and participated in the formation and operations of its Institute for Strategic Analysis and Innovation.

Dr. Matt Kalina

Director of Administrations
Matt Kalina, M.D., Director of Administration, graduated from medical school at the University of Montreal in 1972. He practised medicine in Quebec primarily as an emergency physician and then as a walk-in doctor while focusing on senior medical administrative roles as medical educator in Saudi Arabia, as medical coordinator of Montreal’s pre-hospital emergency system, as the assistance medical director for International SOS, as the deputy medical director of the McGill University Health Centre and as the medical director of Europ Assistance. In the last two positions and since as a consultant, he acquired an in-depth knowledge of services worldwide expert medical opinion.
